+ What other ailments are treated with Eastern Medicine?
Some ailments treated with Acupuncture and Acupressure: Allergies, Asthma, Arthritis, Hypertension, Chemotherapy Side Effects, Reproductive/ Hormonal Problems, Morning Sickness, Depression/Anxiety, IBS/Gastritis/Digestive Disorders,Fibromyalgia, Weight Management, Migraines, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Insomnia.
+ How do you practice Acupuncture during the COVID-19 epidemic?
Acupuncture is based on the principle of balancing the Yin and the Yang. During this time, we have imbalances (pain, hormone, stress) that can be addressed with other forms of healing such as acupressure, diet and exercise. With the use of telemedicine, we can find an appropriate course of action to begin your healing.
+ How fast can pain be eliminated?
The time it takes to heal is dependent on the person and the cause of the pain. I always recommend that patients first start to understand the context of their pain. From there, when we understand what caused the pain, we can better determine the length of treatment.
+ How many sessions will it take to heal my condition?
On average, it takes about six treatments to heal a condition, but it may take less or more time depending on how long you have had the condition. In general, it will take longer to heal a pain that you have had for a long time, since more tissues are likely involved.
+ Does Acupressure hurt?
Acupressure should not hurt. By massaging the prescribed area, we are putting slight force for two to three minutes and then repeating it. It is normal to feel sensation or tenderness but not pain.
+ Are there any side effects to acupressure?
None--only relief.
+ What training is required to practice Acupuncture?
To be an Acupuncturist, a proper higher education diploma is needed. A master's degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine requires four years of graduate school, including four semesters of clinical practice. In Texas, for instance, Acupuncture is under the Texas Medical Board, which requires passing four board exams: Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Ethics, and Western Medicine. To maintain our License, we are required to receive certificates of continuing education yearly.
